5 days in the life of a snail

October 7th. Two eggs. One hatches stillborn. The other one holds hope.

October 8th, the second egg hatched. I put a crumb of cucumber in the terrarium.
October 9th baby ate cucumber and is rasping at cuttlefish bone.

October 10th baby is showing more coloration on the shell.

October 11th, baby preferred food is a cucumber. It digs a nest in its food like its parent (the one who laid the egg)

Coffee and Design day

Coffee event at the PITS Singapore, long queue but it was good to go early and avoid the crowd.

I tried more food than coffees, but I got a very sour espresso and it was super nice.  Just the way I like it.

Here are some pictures. Free totebag, 1 mug and one espresso cup.

At 7 pm we went for a Talk about Design at Biopolis. Which was very interesting and exposes me to some new ideas.

Among some of the topic discussed was "How to stay relevant" with the Spaniards designers relating to the social media a lot and relyin g on it and the local more experienced designer saying how that instead is contributing to the difficulties of staying relevant.

It took a while somebody finally expressed the idea that the web is creating omogeneity in the works. To me that is the product of globalization, cannot say if something is from Europe or Us.

Japan holding on to their cultural identity still stands out.

Food journal

Keeping track of diet and food intake - helps me keep figure out what is affecting my sleep and if I am eating healthy.
Also ipad has a tendency of crashing down and losing photos at every IOS update.

Let them freeze, let them dieee, problem will solve on its own.
On its own, on its own, problem will solve on its own. If I don't look at it, it does not exist it, will solve on its oooown XDDD Oooh, this is so liberating and freee! I can ignore the problem even though I am the causeeee and emote happily away cuz it's a giveeeen, I got problem as a kid (heck who didn't) so we should all be part of the solution by removing ourselves from the probleeeem and.... the problem will solve on its ooown.

Why can't we take criticism?

Very interesting articles as to why people cannot take criticism anymore

I think it applies to millenials too and it gets worse every year...

I have to say that it doubles up at times too - it feels to me as an inception of.... politically correct ---> no criticism ----> politically correct.

Imagine you give a tutorial on how to do it right and one on how to do it wrong - you may argue there is no right or wrong but there are such things as bad habits and anatomy being off.

Well you cannot show the "how to do it wrong anymore" as in when people give criticism not only the other person does not listen but the one who gives the criticism also does not want to accept the rationale behind stuff and don't want to hear a rational reply to their criticism.

for instance: I once did a project that was purposely done wrong as a joke (and in the description I had pointed out the purpose of doing so) and someone commented "this is wrong" so I said "you are correct" but it did not end there because agreeing was not enough.... and no matter how much I kept saying "yes, you are right and I agree with everything you are saying, that's why I did it that way, to prove YOUR point, because you are absolutely right - this is an anti tutorial" the person asked me to change it back to right and ONLY do what's right  - defeating the purpose of the anti tutorial, which was to point out the common mistakes.

I thought we learned through comparison.

Happy Chinese New Year! I have four days off... I hope to spend them drawing to my heart content.
