The real Journey to the west... (part I - thee freeway)
(prima parte - autostrada)

I did say I wanted to go by airplane. You might tell me that the freeway has been all fixed, that the distance is the same than the one that separates Discomunicated Land from Torino... but all I am thinking is: we are heading South! You know what that means? ages and ages of people making money through politics by working on this freeway and never fixing a single thing. It's like a never ending construction site... like the one for Saint Peter in Rome that was ongoing for ages. That's what i am thinking... and I am thinking it's going to take us 12 hours by car to get there and even if we leave at 5am there's no way on earth we can get there before 3pm. No way. My dad is old, my mom gets tired and me I get car sick. This is going to be a heck of a journey.

Io non ci volevo venire! - diceva quello.

Let's begin from the fact that... there were so many detours that the satelite got crazy. Teresina, as we call the femal voice leading us through our journey.... believed we were driving through grass a couple of times, not to mention she asked us to turn right on a bridge about 200m tall! As if we could jump off from that height.
She usually finds her way again when we have to change route... but the detours and the tunnels were too many and she even decided we were parked in front of a speed detector machine!

Close to Villa San Giovanni when u go and board the ferry to go to Sicily there were more than 20 km of works (ongoing for 20 years now) and bits and pieces of freeway were missing. There was a huge detour in Campania that would be closed that night (meaning if we were to leave the next day we would totally be fine and on the freeway and forget about the detour), plus on of the ferry companies was on strike. Nothing of this was on the news and even Isoradio (the radio that only talks about the traffic) did not mention a thing. Taken by surprise, this whole thing delayed us of about 2 hours.
