What I think.
Who knows me knows I am not fond of pirates without a reason. I have studied piracy after I took an interest in it when I was a kid... once you grow up, though, you want to know more and get informed. There must be a sociological, antropological and who-know-what-agical issue hiding behind the reasons that turned a man into a pirate.
History tells us it is so. History repeats itself so it's once again so.
Pirates were the first socialist in history! Ha ha ha
Okay, so Robin Hood was in reality a thief but part of the legend came from something real.
Okay, so Peter Blood, is a figment of Raphael Sabatini's imagination Sabatini but he did say something true about him...
And so was Zorro (fake) and so were many others but...
Isn't there always a bit of truth hiding behind the legend? War to oppresion, is it?
Honestly when I first heard about Somalian pirates I thought 2 things: some of them are bad nuts taking advantage of a hard situation but... to most of them somehow I feel we are doing something wrong.
They are poor and there's really nothing to pillage and plunder back where they are. Is there? Come one is there anything to pillage and plunder in Somalia?
When you have pirates born in a poor land there is always a little fry trying to fight against a big bad shark.
Of course history is written by the victors and so, once again, we'll send battleships and destroy them without even listening to their reasons and without even caring if all of them are kidnapping and doing crappy things. We'll just go and destroy them all.
Now let me ask you something: how does it feel to be on the side of the Sheriff of Notthngham for once? Because you know... we are!

Cosa ne penso io.
Chi mi conosce sa che non sono una fan dei pirati senza motivo. Vi prego lasciamo Johnny Depp fuori da tutto questo e credetemi se vi dico che Capitan Jack Sparrow è l'uuuultima ruota del carro e una piccola aggiunta alla mia lunghissima carriera da piratafan!
Ho studiato la pirateria partendo da un interesse nato nell'infanzia e crescendo ho voluto sapere di più, ho voluto informarmi.
"Ci deve essere una ragione sociale, antropologica, qualche.cavolo.ne.so.logica nascosta dietro il fenomeno che trasforma l'uomo in un pirata."
La storia ci insegna che era così. La storia si ripete e quindi è di nuovo così.
I pirati sono stati tra i primi socialisti della storia! Ha ha ha.
Okay, Robin Hood in realtà era solo un ladro ma parte della legenda veniva da qualcosa di reale.

E così è finto Zorro e così sono finti molti altri eroi...
Ma non c'è sempre un fondo di verità dietro ogni leggenda? O quasi... Si parla di oppressione, o sbaglio?
Francamente quando ho sentito il telegiornale parlare dei pirati somali ho pensato subito a due cose: alcuni di loro sicuramente degenereranno per trarne profitto dalla situazione ma alla maggior parte di questi uomini stiamo facendo qualcosa di sbagliato NOI. Ma cosa?
Sono poveri e davvero non c'è un benemerito fico secco da depredare e rubare dove si trovano. Pensateci bene... i ricconi vanno coi panfili in Somalia?
Quando un pirata nasce in una zona povera o impoverita c'è sempre un motivo politico, c'è sempre un pesce piccolo in lotta contro un pescecane.
Ovviamente la storia la scrive chi vince e quindi, ancora una volta, manderemo navi da guerra e li annienteremo tutti senza sentire le loro ragioni, le ragioni di chi li rappresenta, la popolazione che li spalleggia e li sostiene. Noooo. Niente di quello che fanno è giustificabile ma non importa se a farlo è uno solo o tutti e venti. La pirateria, sono la prima a dirlo, è condannabile... ma cercarne la cause nascoste non si può?
No, andremo ad annientarli tutti tutti tutti senza ascoltare e senza cercare.
E ora lasciate che vi chieda: come ci si sente a stare dalla parte dello Sceriffo di Nottingham?
Perché, sapete... lo siamo.
